Angela Evelyn Bassett, an American actress is well known for her work in film and on television since the mid 1980s. She has received various honors, including the Golden Globe Award, and sixteen NAACP Image Award. Since the mid 80s, Angela Evelyn has worked in television and film. Bassett born in Winston-Salem North Carolina by her aunt, who was born to New York New York, is a well-known actor. Bassett as well as her mother and sister relocated from the city of Winston-Salem to St. Petersburg Florida when Bassett was just five. Their father had divorced their mother. In high school, Bassett saw John Steinbeck's play Of Mice and Men starring James Earl Jones and decided she wanted to pursue a career as an actor. In the year 1980, Bassett graduated from Yale University New Haven Connecticut with an undergraduate degree in African American studies. She earned a diploma from the Yale School of Drama. She dated Courtney B. Vance, another actress from Yale and they married in 1997. Qualification: B.A. BA. (Afro-American studies) in the year 1980.
